Concrete Edging Calculator

This concrete edging calculator sizes garden borders, mower strips and landscape curbing: a long, narrow slab. Enter total run, strip width and depth — bag counts matter here because edging is classic small-batch work.

الصيغة

Edging volume = length × width × depth

مثال محلول: 50 ft of 6 in wide × 4 in deep edging: 50 × 0.5 × 0.333 = 8.3 ft³ — about 14 × 80 lb bags.

Edging consumes less concrete than expected — a full 50-foot garden border at 6 × 4 inches is under a third of a yard — which is why it's usually a bagged-concrete project rather than a ready-mix order.

Curved borders are edging's specialty: measure length along the curve's centerline with a flexible tape or rope, and form with hardboard or plastic bender board. The volume math is unchanged.

Extruded landscape curbing machines use a drier mix and standard profiles around 6 × 4 inches — the same volume math applies, at roughly 1 bag per 3.5 linear feet.

الأسئلة الشائعة

أسئلة شائعة حول concrete edging calculator.

How much concrete for garden edging?

Length × width × depth. A typical 6 × 4 in mower strip uses one 80 lb bag per 3.5 linear feet.

How deep should concrete edging be?

4 inches for mower strips and borders; 6 inches where vehicles may cross. Set on 2 inches of compacted base.

How do I measure a curved border?

Run a rope or flexible tape along the centerline of the curve and measure that — enter it as the length.

Does edging need reinforcement?

Usually not, but cut or tool a joint every 3–4 ft; long thin strips crack without frequent joints.
